We all need to understand that education is not restricted to subjects alone. One can add to the knowledge bank by keeping eyes and ears open and reading as much as possible to ensure children build these habits.
At NLK, the curriculum has been so framed, that the individual child is the core of the whole programme. An atmosphere of a relaxed , easy relationship between the children and the teachers pervades the classroom. The children are encouraged to get involved in the exciting adventure of learning experience through discussion, enquiry and experimentation.
Concepts are brought alive through auditory, visual and kinesthetic experiences that include activities, field trips and constant interaction with the students.
Primary : Learning at NLK is experiential. We believe that any kind of learning should be the outcome of the actual experience. Curiosity is encouraged and learning is always a fun-filled, exploratory process.
It is our belief that evaluation should act as a positive input for improving the teaching-learning process and not as a deterrent. The report card of evaluation should reflect not only the scholastic aspects of the learner, also life skills acquisition, intelligence, personality attributes, behavior, for improving their reading skills, interests, attitudes, values and proficiency in indoor as well as outdoor co-curricular activities. It should facilitate in unraveling talent and reflect the true picture of the growth and profile of a young learner.
Pre-school : Activities in the classes include teaching children about washing hands, social etiquette, table manners etc. We help them develop their fine and gross motor skills through various activities. Jodo Gyan programme introduces innovative methods through which children understand and enjoy mathematical concepts. Through sensory bins we enhance the creativity and imagination of the child by working on their five senses: touch, hearing, sight, taste and smell. These five senses are the scholastic aspects of the learner, gateway to knowledge and eventually intelligence.
For improving their reading skills, reading programs from the very base level is initiated such as sight reading in nursery, organic reading in K1 and K2, strip reading & word wall in grade 1 and 2 and so on. Jolly Phonics is playing a vital role in making the students understand English through sounds in Preschool.
